Either they didn’t want to do it, or it wouldn’t fit into their existing process. So we did it. Making test blanks for weld and dye testing isn’t glamorous, and it doesn’t seamlessly fit into already existing production manufacturing facilities or processes. Making the blanks would get in the way or slow things down in larger production facilities. One solution was to outsource the blanks to a smaller shop like ours, and it worked.

AptWright Service was created in 2019 for the purpose of serving another business’s QA/QC department at a “smaller-than-industry” scale pace. (Don’t let this scare you! We still make 2,500 of the parts we currently run in one hour flat…) But where the big plants use roll punching machines, we use a CO2 laser and a table saw to process the same pulp board material at a much smaller scale.

Jeremy Baker, the owner of AptWright Service, has worked in construction management for 21 years, with an additional 5 year hiatus as a professional woodworking production shop worker-then-manager. His greatest joys throughout his career have been related to improving process flow, mastering production runs, and increasing machine performance and safety by using alternative arrangements and creative jigs/fixtures.
